Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) – Apple tests the foldable screen for the iPhone: Bloomberg

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is one foldable phone that is already on the market.

Apple is working on a foldable iPhone, Bloomberg reported.

What happened: Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) has started work on a new iPhone model with a foldable screen.

The technology giant has developed prototype screens and, according to Bloomberg, is still conducting internal tests. There was no official decision on any launches, the financial news office reported.

The prototype screen would make the iPhone bigger and ‘more affordable’.

A person familiar with the testing told Bloomberg that screens “are a mostly invisible hinge with the electronics behind the screen”.

Why it matters: Apple has not yet announced any major changes for 2021 production, bringing the new changes in 2020 for new designs, package terms and 5G.

But the Cupertino, California-based company is trying one new feature: an on-screen fingerprint reader to unlock the smartphone.

Under current circumstances, where people have to wear masks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which complicates face recognition, this feature will be useful for iPhone users.

Price action: Apple shares fell 0.25% to close at $ 126.82 on Friday after trading in the aftermarket, after closing at $ 127.14 in ordinary trading.
