If you just got a new iPhone 12, Apple Watch or iPad, you may not have been immediately satisfied – Apple had it iCloud spending. This is probably due to a large amount of people trying to set up or update iCloud accounts after the Christmas holiday gift.

The issue started early on Christmas Day, according to the iCloud account and login on Apple’s system status page. More than a day later, from late morning PT Saturday, the Apple status page indicated that the problem with the emergency service remained ‘persistent’. But by 2pm PT Saturday, the iCloud release was marked ‘resolved’. No details were given on how widespread the problems could be, only that ‘some users were affected.’

The company also noticed problems with Apple ID login. In a Twitter response later on Christmas Day to a question from an Apple user who wants to set up an iPad and a HomePod Mini, Apple Support has acknowledged issuesand said the company “currently has a high capacity that affects your ability to set up iCloud.” The Apple Support tweet said, “Please try again in a few hours.”

The holidays are usually a busy time for device activations, as people unpack gifts from phones, tablets, smart watches, smart speakers and other electronics and want to set it up right away.

Apple did not respond to a request for comment.
