Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke at the virtual conference on computers, privacy and data protection this morning, where he discussed the business model of Facebook and the upcoming application of Apple Tracking Transparency. He then gave a number of his speeches in an interview with Fast company.
Cook said privacy was “one of the most important issues of the century” and that it was important to “think deeply” about figuring out how to “leave something for the next generation far better than the current situation. “Cook has said that privacy ” needs to be weighed ” like climate change, another major issue facing the world.
On the subject of why people should take care of their privacy, even when there is nothing to hide, Cook said he was trying to get people thinking about life in a world of constant surveillance, something Apple did this morning with the release of a document. called ‘A day in the life of your data’ ‘which explains how third-party companies track user data on websites and programs.
“What changes do you make in your own behavior? What do you do less of? What do you not do anymore? What are you no longer so curious about when you know that every time you look on the internet, you go to investigate different things, you go yourself more and more and more and more coming together? That kind of world is not a world that any of us should strive for.
“And so I think most people, when they think about it that way … quickly start thinking, ‘Well, what am I looking for? I’m looking for this and that. I do not really want people to know me.’ this and that, because I’m just curious about what it’s or whatever. It’s this behavioral change happening that’s one of the things I’m very worried about, and I think everyone should worry about it.
Cook also pointed out that not all ‘Big Tech’ businesses are the same, and he said he was concerned about the ‘broad brush categorization’ around big companies like Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Apple all one label to give. “I try to encourage people to think deeper and think about the businesses themselves and their business models and how they behave, and so on – what their values are,” he said.
Cook was asked if he thinks artificial intelligence is a threat and how it compares to privacy, and he said that ‘both of them’ can be used negatively and ‘strengthened by technology’. Cook said ethical AI, and ethical privacy of data and data collection are both important issues that need to be ‘worked on’.
Fast companyThe full interview with Cook also touches on technology and extremism, legislation and regulation of privacy and the future of privacy in technology, and it’s worth reading.
