The new WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews appears with his new muscle during a backstage segment in tonight’s SmackDown on FOX episode and confirms that the big man’s name is Commander Azeez.
As noted, Crews defeated Big E in a Nigerian drum fight to win the title during Night Two of WrestleMania 37. Crews claimed the victory after Commander Azeez (fka Dabba-Kato, Babatunde Aiyegbusi) hit the ring and destroyed Big E.
Commander Azeez is the same name that WWE submitted to the brand shortly before WrestleMania 37.
At the SmackDown tonight, Crews laughed about Big E and said he would give the former champion a second chance, but he was not at the show because of the pack of punches he hit on WrestleMania.
Crews provided background information on Commandant Azeez and said he is a former member of the Nigerian Elite Guard. Crews also mention the move by which Big E was beaten at WrestleMania – the Nigerian nail. Crews warned that if anyone dared to come for his Intercontinental title, they would be destroyed by the Nigerian Nail.
There is no word on whether Big E will get a second chance at the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view on May 16, but we will keep you posted.
