Apollo Crews get a character conversion and WWE pushes younger stars to SmackDown

Many of you who watch WWE SmackDown can see that there is a renewed attempt to inspire younger talent or talent that has not yet been given much chance.

Otis scored a clean sheet over Rey Mysterio during this week’s delivery of SmackDown during a match with the tag team. It was Rey and Dominik Mysterio who lost to Otis and Chad Gable after Otis pinned Rey after hitting his big smash. Otis and Gable turned heels last week.

Meanwhile, Apollo Crews has been given time for a promotion on this week’s SmackDown. He talked about how kind and humble he was, but he did not receive the same respect. Crews said he is not ‘off the hook’ or ‘from the suburbs’, but he is a true African-American. During his promo, he talked about his ancestry and said, “this is who I am, this is who I represent.”

Crews said the colors he wears represent “wealth, dominance and power,” and Big E found out last week. His promotion was interrupted by Shinsuke Nakamura, who was planning for a game with Crews. Crews won by peeking at Nakamura and it looks like Crews vs. Big E for the Intercontinental Championship for WrestleMania will be discussed.

Others who have been printed over the past few weeks are Nakamura and Cesaro. You can give Daniel Bryan credit for this, because he is part of the creative team and has strived to give more TV time to certain wrestlers who have been underutilized over the years.
