Respawn Entertainment took a look at the new Legend Fuse and its abilities in action, plus the annihilation of Kings Canyon, in the Apex Legends Season 8 Launch preview.
Fuse, real name Walter Fitzroy is the eighth legend to join Apex Games after the launch, bringing the total to 16 – double what the game had during the launch.
As his name suggests, it’s about explosives in his abilities, and he’s a blow-on-first, asking questions later, typing character. He comes from Salvo – a new planet we just found out about – and also brings a new weapon with him, the 30-30 repeater.
The launch trailer, released on January 21, gives us a first look at two key parts of the upcoming season: Fuse’s capabilities package and the new look of Kings Canyon.
Season 8 launch trailer
Merge capabilities in Apex Legends
While not entirely explained, this trailer gives us a glimpse of Fuse using his abilities, which he will have in the Apex games.
His ultimate, already teased in the game, sees him throw a mortar-like bomb that then explodes into flames and damages someone in the area.
We can also see how he sends grenades from his arm, which will be his tactical ability.

Fuse can send explosives from its mechanical arm.
Kings canyon
Salvo’s association with the Syndicate was a joyous occasion, but Fuse’s old friends were certainly not happy – and decided to ruin the party.
It left Kings Canyon in ruins – ready for a new season of major map changes. Respawn became experts at weaving the game’s gameplay into the actual game, and this is just another example of it.
In the trailer, Artillery and Slum Lakes both appear to have been destroyed, but we may have to wait until the gameplay trailer to see the full extent of the damage.
Season 8 launches on February 2 on consoles, PCs and possibly Nintendo Switch.
