After months of teasing, Respawn Entertainment finally revealed last week that Apex Legends will land on Nintendo Switch in early March. The announcement eventually brought relief to many who were waiting for a specific launch date, but as we approached the time, others began to wonder how much space they would have to make on their switch to install it. Well, luckily it looks like we have our answer now.
The official match sheet for Apex Legends on Nintendo’s website was recently updated to show that the Battle Royale shooter requires a whopping 30 GB of space on the console. While not usually very large on other consoles like the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, it takes up almost the entire memory of the Switch. Although this file size seems quite concrete, there may also be error.
On the British Nintendo Switch website, it has been noticed at some point in the last few days that Apex Legends only had a file size of about 15GB. This is obviously much better compared to what the US website is currently showing, but it seems like this size of 15 GB may be wrong. The page was later removed and the file size along with it has since disappeared. As such, it still seems like 30GB is the actual download size.
All this simply says that if you have not made a place on your Nintendo Switch for a while, then this might be a good time to do so if you want to grab Apex Legends next month. Conversely, if you have not upgraded your Switch with an external memory card, you can always buy one. Micro SD cards are usually not too expensive and allow you to double the size of your Switch’s storage space without breaking the bank.
As for when Apex Legends released on Switch, the game will finally air on March 9th next month. As this date gets closer, we’ll keep you posted on the Switch release of the game as there are new developments.
How do you feel about this file size? Are you going to be frustrated if Apex Legends does it eventually take up so much space? Let me know your thoughts at the bottom of the comments or on Twitter at @ MooreMan12.
