Apex Legends On Switch offers cross-play, but not cross-progression, at least

Apex Legends arrives on Switch tomorrow, and we were lucky enough to sit with the team behind the harbor recently.

One of the questions many fans wanted to answer was about cross-progression – an understandable request, as many people are already playing the game on other platforms and want to continue the progress on Switch.

Unfortunately, although cross-country gaming is supported, Switch owners who already play Apex Legends elsewhere will have to restart when it appears on Nintendo’s console tomorrow – unless they want to wait a long time.

When asked about cross-progression, Respawn’s Chad Grenier told us:

It’s been planned, but I think we’re a way to present it. I really want it as a gamer myself, so I hear what our fans are saying and I totally agree with them. We are working to make it happen. This is a complex challenge for multiple users that consists of multiple accounts that we need to resolve or merge. There are legal and contractual things to navigate with purchases on other platforms and their transfer and also some technical challenges. So it’s not something we can just turn on, but we’re working on having it and the team is passionate about delivering it at some point.
