Apex Legends’ Fight Night event kicks off January 5

Apex Legends will take a hit in 2021 – literally.

The Battle Royale gets a Pathfinder theme next week, called ‘Fight Night’. The event offers a series of new additions to 2021 with an explosion, including a new collection, the heirloom of Gibraltar, a boxing ring for a takeover of Pathfinder Town and a new version of limited time modes – and it starts at 22 : 00 CT on January 5th.

Go in the ring

Respawn has big plans for Pathfinder. We recently saw the Forward Scout get his own episode of Stories from the Outlands and now he has his own opportunity – complete with a Town Takeover.

The event will place a boxing ring in Olympus near the intersection of Docks and Power Grid, and the only way to defeat your enemies there is with your bare hands. “Entering the ring will prevent any player from using their weapons and any of their abilities,” the official blog said. “And do not worry about external interference – no external projectiles, grenades or capabilities can penetrate the force field of the ring.”

Taking over the type of games: Airdrop Escalation

Fight Night introduces a new game type and reviews how Apex handle LTMs. Airdrop Escalation will be available for the duration of the event and will take over the matchmaking drive. Instead of choosing between comfortable modes and the new LTM, players only have the option to stand in Airdrop Escalation.

The limited time rule set will drop an increasing number of supplies from the start of each game, each with a fully equipped weapon. Earlier rounds had a lower level rifle, but the later stages of the game could drop red Evo Shields and care package weapons. However, normal weapons will still appear as ground loot.

The new takeover model is another experiment by Respawn. Instead of dividing players into two separate rows, the game will temporarily switch exclusively to the new game mode. Airdrop Escalation is not as much a departure from the core game as other limited time modes (like last year’s Flashpoint), which could make it a good candidate for the experiment.

New collection and the heirloom of Gibraltar

It would not be a gathering event without new cosmetics, and Fight Night brings a truckload of it. The exclusive footage includes new outfits for Wattson, Mirage, Crypto, Revenant, Loba, Lifeline and others – including the star of the show itself.

Pathfinder’s new visual version is a reference to the Fight Night movie audience when the MRVN disguised itself with a trench coat and fedora to prevent detection. Based on the trailer, the new cosmetics feature has a unique character selection animation that lets him fight a Specter – similar to how other images from the Outlands series Stories, such as Wraith’s Voidwalker and Bloodhound’s Young Blood, their own animations come.

If you get all 24 cosmetics in the collection, players are rewarded with a special item: the heirloom set of Gibraltar. His heirloom coat of arms first appeared during season seven. In Family Portrait, it looks like Gibby has an auxiliary object called Patu. The search revealed that it was custom made by his then boyfriend Nik and Gibraltar has retained it after all these years. However, players who do not complete the set during the event can still tie the battle ax with the elusive Heirloom Shards.

Looting MRVNs

At the end of the season-seven quest, the legends have recovered an antique battery from Lifeline’s father and players will be able to use it in the game. If you interact with the friendly robots, it will drop some items based on the level displayed on their built-in monitors. Players who shoot MRVNs can grab their arms and transplant into another robot to get loot – but if you do, you’re probably a bad person.
