Apex Legends Developers Want to Remove Low Profile from Every Legend to Pathfinder Buff

Apex Legends developers have revealed their intention to remove Low Profile from every legend affected by the benefits, after Pathfinder had the Passive in the Chaos Theory Patch Notes removed.

Apex Legends developers Respawn have talked in the past about their hesitation about Low Profile and Fortified – Passive Perks set up to try to balance the effects of different sizes. Back in November, they even described themselves as a ‘curse’ on the battle royally.

Caustic and Gibraltar, as larger legends and therefore easier to hit, have been strengthened, meaning incoming damage is reduced by 15%. Smaller legends that can be hit harder – Lifeline, Pathfinder, Wattson and Wraith – got low profile, which means incoming damage is increased by 5%.

In the Chaos Theory Collection Event, however, Pathfinder removed Low Profile. The lover of the robot explorer surprised many, causing other legends they want to see to float quickly without Low Profile.

Pathfinder removed Low Profile in the Apex Legends Chaos Theory patch.

Respawn essentially justified the changes by explaining that Pathfinder’s hitbox is too large to have the negative effects of Low Profile. “Even though Path is still mobile, his hitbox is big,” they said. “Although his overall win rate and his win rate are by no means low, it is difficult to justify keeping Low Profile in a hit box of his size.”

In response to the patch notes, one player asked Wattson to receive the same treatment, claiming that she is in a bad spot in the season 8 meta of the game and that the removal of Low Profile is a valid buffalo.

In response, Daniel Klein, Respawn’s main game designer, said: “My goal is to eventually remove it from every character in the game, but we need to figure out how we can humiliate Lifeline before we can do that.”

Klein’s response suggests that Apex may eventually remove all low-profile benefits.

Whether Apex really reaches a place where all low-profile benefits are removed from the game remains to be seen, but it brings an interesting dynamic into potential lovers and nerve legends they may receive. For example, can we see some medium-sized legends that Fortified gave as a lover?

Whatever comes in terms of legendary lovers and nerves, Respawn is clearly careful to keep the game as balanced as possible. We expect the next major update to be at the start of season 9.
