‘Apex Legends’ comes to Nintendo Switch on March 9

We already knew Apex Legends, the battle generous shooter by Respawn Entertainment, was on its way to Nintendo Switch. But when? Several leaks suggested that the port would appear on February 2, but this appears to be inaccurate. Today the well-known developer is behind Titanfall and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order announced that the port will start on 9 March. It will support gaming on different platforms, which means Switch owners can team up and compete with players using PlayStation, Xbox and PC hardware. Respawn also promised ‘full parity’. So, with the footage and frame rate aside, you should not notice any major differences or omissions.

Respawn recruited Panic Button to help with the project. The little-known developer in Austin, Texas, has provided a number of surprisingly playable Switch ports, including Rocket League, Doem (2016), Warframe, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Doom Eternal. It also created a version of the Xbox series Forza Horizon 4. ‘Porting Apex Legends to his smallest screen yet another great achievement, and we would not be able to do it without our friends at Panic Button, ”said Chad Grenier, game director of Apex Legends said. ‘We are very proud of what the team was able to achieve with some smart optimizations for the Switch port to deliver a full feature Apex Legends experience along the way. ”

The port will be launched in the middle of season 8, which is available on other platforms today. The biggest addition is Fuse, a demolition expert who described Respawn as a ‘walking AC-DC song’. He comes with a skill called Grenadier, which allows him to stack two grenades in a single supply slot, and a mechanical arm that allows them to run farther and faster than his counterparts. Fuse can also launch a cluster bomb and a ‘Motherlode’ ultimate that engulfs enemies in the fire. Respawn also promises an “extinct” version of the Kings Canyon map with a crashed spaceship and filter dam. Finally, there is a new weapon called the 30-30 Repeater, which deals higher damage if you aim at the sight for a moment.

Apex Legends is not the greatest battle royal – Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone usually has more viewers on Twitch, for example – but it has a loyal player base that appreciates Respawn’s trademark rifle and crossbar systems. If you are not satisfied with War zone at the moment, struggling with errors, fraudsters and unbalanced weapons, it may be time to give up Apex another shot.
