Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has said she disagrees with President-elect Biden on his “optimistic” view of the IDP.
‘This is one area where I believe there is some disagreement between the president-elect and me, and I say this, you know – this is it, this is not a struggle – this is just a disagreement, ‘the New York Democrat said Friday in a virtual city hall.
“I believe President-elect Biden has a very optimistic view of the Republican Party. He, he made statements about, you know, once Trump is gone, they will see the error of their ways. And I applaud his optimism, but I do not agree with his assessment, ‘she continued.

Ocasio-Cortez said she was concerned about Democrats trying to “water down” [COVID] relief “while they have the congressional majority to appease Republicans. “
The president-elect this week unveiled a $ 1.9 trillion proposal for coronavirus relief that includes $ 1,400 stimulus checks, $ 400 extended unemployment, state and local government funding, rental assistance and a moratorium on evictions, among others.
The $ 1,400, along with the recent COVID relief bill’s $ 600 stimulus checks, are not enough, Ocasio-Cortez said. “$ 2,000 means $ 2,000. $ 2,000 does not mean $ 1,400,” she told The Washington Post.
In a follow-up tweet, Ocasio-Cortez argues that Congress should provide retroactive unemployment relief, in addition to the $ 400 a week that Biden included in his proposal.
‘We can not walk sluggishly or diminish our ambitions because of Republicans, because this country has elected Democrats and we have elected a Democratic majority to provide them with health care, to get their stimuli, to protect rents, which all “are provisions that are included in Biden’s emergency relief plan and that I welcome, are included in Biden’s relief plan and that we look forward to expanding and building on,” said the progressive firefighter.

During his decades in Congress, Biden presented his work throughout the corridors and gave the Republicans a good front and center at the Democratic National Convention.
When Biden elected former Ohio Gov. John Kasich to speak at the DNC, Ocasio-Cortez described him as an “anti-choice extremist” and “not a friend to workers.”
“People at the extreme, whether they’re left or right, are getting extraordinary publicity that tends to define their party,” the Ohio Republican snapped back.
