“It was such an easy process,” Joan Kirkpatrick said. “It changes a lot because now I feel like I’m safe in the community now. I’m more happy to be part of this process to eliminate this virus so we can get back into our normal lives.”

During the COVID-19 briefing of the state on Tuesday, Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services in North Carolina, dr. Mandy Cohen, noted that nearly a third (31.7%) of adults received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 18.8% were fully vaccinated.

“I urge everyone to get it,” said John Rivera, who was recently vaccinated. “I am not surprised that in this wonderful country it is possible to roll out a vaccine to fight such a pandemic.”

“Our vaccination efforts remain a priority, along with speed,” said Governor Roy Cooper in a tweet. “We continue to vaccinate people in a way that is fast and fair.”

The number of new COVID-19 cases in the state has decreased, in contrast to the decrease as in recent weeks. Cohen did say the state “was in a positive place.”

“Every shot in an arm brings us closer to reversing the pandemic,” Cooper said.

The state says that every adult in North Carolina who wants a coronavirus vaccination cure will be able to get one by May 1st. Last week, CFVH crossed the 100,000-dose milestone.
