Anthony Davis left Sunday’s game against the Denver Nuggets after suffering a Achilles tendon strain.

The Los Angeles Lakers announced the diagnosis during the second half. Davis will undergo an MRI on Monday.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Davis’s tendonosis in his Achilles tendon is worsening and he is experiencing swelling. The Los Angeles Lakers star did not return in the second half after suffering an injury late in the second quarter

Davis limped off the court on his own

Davis sustained the injury as he drove past Nuggets center Nikola Jokic in the direction of the basket. He grimaced as he planted his right leg and limped after being committed by Jokic on the play. He reached out to grab his right ankle, but was able to stay in the game for a short time to shoot free throws.

The Lakers then erred in allowing Davis to leave the game with 2:36 left in the first half. He walks on his own to the dressing room.

Davis missed time with Achilles disease last week

Davis missed two games last week after being diagnosed with Judge Achilles tendonosis, a chronic tendon disease. On Sunday, his second game of injury was back.

Davis, a seven-time All-Star, scored 22.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.9 blocks while shooting 53.5% from the field.
