After the so-so Crusader Kings effort, another title of the Paradox Strategy –Stellarisis on his way to board game after successfully achieving its Kickstarter funding goal.

Not that the goal was ever questioned – for a big board game Kickstarter it is rare – but still, at the publication of nearly 6000 people, it backed up / ordered a copy for about USD $ 940,000 in total funding.

Stellaris the video game is a vast 4X affair in which you try to build a vast space empire, and are responsible for everything from building stuff on planets to diplomacy to research to deciding which guns to use on your spaceships dress.

The board game … looks very similar! What I especially like about it is that it is planned simultaneously, which means that much of the “I’m still thinking, give me a moment” period has been removed. Also cool: each game only lasts about two hours, but you can expand your civilian and continue across multiple sessions while continuing in the research trees.
