Two more Mainers were killed when health officials reported 571 more cases of coronavirus across the state on Tuesday.
The number of cases of coronavirus diagnosed across the country in the past 14 days is 4574. This is an estimate of the current number of active cases in the state, as the Maine CDC no longer detects recovery for all patients. It is higher than 4,226 on Monday.
This is the highest single-day increase in cases Maine has seen since Jan. 26, when 662 were reported and the state was in the grip of a severe winter surge in virus transmission.

Out of 6,376 COVID-19 tests reported to the Maine CDC in the past 24 hours, 5.3 percent returned positive. Overall, 2,210,508 tests were applied and the static positive percentage is 2.73 percent.
