Thirteen more Mainers were killed when health officials reported 702 new cases of coronavirus in the state on Thursday.
According to the report from the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the total number of coronavirus cases in Maine is found at 24201 at 24201. It is higher than 23,499 on Tuesday.
Of these, 20,637 were positively confirmed, while 3,564 were classified as ‘probable’, the CDC reported in Maine.

New cases have been reported in Androscoggin (51), Aroostook (32), Cumberland (178), Franklin (2), Hancock (19), Kennebec (48), Knox (9), Lincoln (5), Oxford (19), Provincial data show that Penobscot (79), Piscataquis (5), Sagadahoc (20), Somerset (6), Waldo (2), Washington (20) and York (215).
So far, 1,065 Mainers have been hospitalized at some point with COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus. As of Wednesday, 177 people are currently hospitalized, with 48 in critical care and 19 in ventilators.
An additional 48 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the total number of Mainers who have recovered to 11,374. That means there are at least 12,480 active cases in the state, up from 11,839 on Wednesday.
As of Thursday, 27,122 Mainers have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
There were 1,177,522 negative test results out of the 1,207,730 total. About 2.4 percent of all tests returned positive, Maine CDC data show.
The coronavirus hit hardest in Cumberland County, where 7,233 cases were reported and where the majority of virus deaths – 97 – were concentrated. Other cases have been reported in Androscoggin (2,667), Aroostook (617), Franklin (451), Hancock (550), Kennebec (1,812), Knox (370), Lincoln (301), Oxford (1,115), Penobscot ( 2 050) Provinces of Piscataquis (117), Sagadahoc (387), Somerset (743), Waldo (380), Washington (377) and York (530). Information on where an additional case was reported was not immediately available.
As of Thursday morning, the coronavirus had killed 19,745,885 people in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the US Virgin Islands, and caused 342,414 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University of Medicine. .
