Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter seeks answers in a new 20/20 Special

Dannielynn Birkhead was only 5 months old when her mother Anna Nicole Smith died suddenly at the age of 39.

Dannielynn learned information about Anna Nicole during her fourteen years of life through photos and videos, or stories her father told, Larry Birkhead. But now, ahead of the 14th anniversary of Anna Nicole’s death on February 8, the teenager is looking for answers about the mother she has never had in a special episode of ABC. 20/20 will be broadcast on Friday, February 5th.

A taste of Good morning America shows Dannielynn and Larry traveling through the country and starting in Anna Nicole’s hometown of Mexia, Tex.

Fans of the reality star will remember that she grew up in the small town of Texas before moving to Houston, where the single got a job at a strip club. There she meets her future husband, J. Howard Marshall, a billionaire businessman 63 years older than her. He eventually supported her and her baby son until his tragic death in 1995.

J. Howard also promised to provide for her and son Daniel Wayne Smith after his death, but his sons and Anna ended up in a court battle that dragged on to the U.S. Supreme Court.
