Animal Crossing New Horizons became Sunday 1st. To celebrate the anniversary, the developers sent a special birthday cake to all the players that they could pick up in their mailbox. The anniversary also kicked off the event schedule for update 1.9.0, with Bunny Day approaching within a week. Later, there will also be events like April Fool’s Day, Earth Day and many more.
The update also introduced new exclusive Nook Link items and also a new currency that can be used to purchase them.

Nook Points by Animal Crossing New Horizons
Players can now earn a new kind of currency with which they can buy many exclusive items in New Horizons. With the Nook Link app available on the Nintendo Switch app for all smartphones, players can use this new currency. This currency is called the Nook Point, which will be released at the end of March with the Nook Link update.
To earn Nook points, players must visit the Link app every day. By using this app, players can collect free points. They can also do activities within the app that enable them to earn more. The system works similar to that of Nook Miles, which players can earn by using the Nook Stop Terminal.
This is not the first time that an Animal Crossing game has multiple currencies. In Pocket Camp, players can earn Bells and Leaf Tickets. In New Leaf, players have Bells, MEOW coupons and Play Coins.
Exclusive items with Nook points
Players can purchase exclusive items in the Nook Link app and transfer them to the game. The developers have unveiled some advance screenshots showing the new items. Some of these items include the Nook Inc. poster and doorplate, photos of Isabella, Tom Nook, Timmy and Tommy, and an Aloha carrying case. The developers have not yet announced the prices of these items.
The new Link app will also bring Katrina, the fortune teller, back to the Animal Crossing franchise. The character will give players a wisdom card daily after collecting their points in the Nook Link app. It remains to be seen whether the character will play a bigger role and also come into play.
Fans are excited about the refurbishment of the Link app. The new Nook Points currency also gives players an additional reason to check the app regularly.
