New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Yang has faced more media attacks as he continues to hold a clear lead in the polls ahead of the June 22 Democratic primary.
Yang is one of 12 Democrats who will be on the ballot in what many observers expect to amount to de facto mayoral election this summer. Despite the crowded field, the tech entrepreneur and the Democratic presidential candidate for 2020 maintained a steady lead in the polls.
However, it appears that people other than Yang’s primary opponents do not want to stop him from succeeding Mayor Bill de Blasio.
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough called Monday’s Morning Joe ‘the NYC mayoral race “the most important” in 50 years and ventured to be the leading contender.

On Saturday, the New York Daily News covered an open headline with the headline: “Is Andrew Yang fighting our chain? Watch out for the lure of this mayoral candidate,” comparing his political rise to that of former President Donald Trump.
“Before Andrew Yang elected him mayor, he never bothered to vote in a mayoral election. He left Manhattan to endure the worst pandemic in his second home in the Hudson Valley,” columnist Harry Siegel wrote . “And the distinctive idea of his national campaign – to give every adult a universal basic income – is irrelevant here, while his claim that he can deliver to New Yorkers because Joe and Kamala are now his friends is simply ridiculous. . “
