Andrew Yang explains tearfully to give away his dog Grizzly

Andrew Yang is more than a little furious about his old dog, Grizzly.

New York City’s mayoral will ripped apart Monday as he describes what he calls a ‘difficult’ decision to give Grizz away to a friend after his allergic son had a respiratory attack.

“It was then that I knew we would have to give our dog away,” Yang said through tears at a news conference in Brooklyn. ‘Oh, that was awful. It was terrible. ‘

Yang’s comments come after he raised eyebrows on Sunday when he tweeted about giving up the pooch to “celebrate” the national pet day.

Some on Twitter gave the former presidential candidate a delivery because they gave up the pet, but Yang explained that it came after his older son, Christopher, had a severe asthma attack – and that the dog is safe and happy at his friends in California.

Yang bought the dog with his wife before their children were born, saying he initially ‘denied’ that the dog was the cause of his son’s allergies.

“I must say I was denied. I was like, ‘He’s not allergic to Grizzly,'” the mayor’s forerunner said. But his wife, Evelyn, knew the dog was the problem.

“He was like a family member. We miss him all the time. He was, like my best friend,” Yang said.

“Here’s the lifeblood in New York, it was at least for me and Evelyn,” he said. “You meet someone you love and marry, and what do you do then? You get a dog.”

‘One of the jokes some of our friends tell is that your dog is your child until you have a child. But it was heartbreaking. We still miss Grizzly. ‘

Asked why he tweeted the photo of his former puppy, Yang said the post felt very natural.

“You know, it was National Pet Day and we still have a pet in our heart, so I didn’t really think much about it,” he said.

“It was a day to celebrate pets and what it means to all of us, and Grizzly meant the world to me and my family, so it felt very natural.”
