Andrew Giuliani considers running for governor of New York

Get ready for Andrew versus Andrew.

Andrew Giuliani – a former Trump assistant and the son of Rudy Giuliani – is considering a candidate for governor of New York next year, he told The Post on Wednesday.

Giuliani would go along with Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the three-term Democrat currently trapped in an avalanche of scandals involving sexual misconduct and dealing with nursing homes.

“Yes, I’m considering running for governor,” the 35-year-old Republican said. ‘There’s an opportunity for Republicans to take back New York. Absolutely. ”

A Giuliani candidacy would put two of New York’s most prominent political families against each other in the 2022 government.

Cuomo is the son of former prime minister Mario Cuomo, who was elected in three terms, while Giuliani’s father, Rudy, served as mayor of New York from 1994 to 2001.

Giuliani slammed Andrew Cuomo for his soft-spoken criminal policy and predicted that his impending tax hike would drive away the wealthy residents of the state.

“We saw what Cuomo’s leadership got in New York – a massive exodus to Florida,” he said. ‘Cuomo and the State Assembly and the Senate are encouraging residents and businesses to get away with these tax increases.

“We need a governor who will encourage people to come to New York – not leave.”

Under the Trump administration, Giuliani worked as a director of the Public Liaison Office.

The younger Giuliani said he would soon meet in Albany with GOP chairman Nick Langworthy and the nation’s Republican leaders. He was inspired to consider running after GOP donors asked him to act, he said.

The wannabe police also said if he ran, he would go to the ‘Rudy Giuliani playbook’ – a nod to his father’s zero tolerance for crime and the reputation of keeping taxes and spending.

“It worked for New York City,” Andrew Giuliani said.

He also panned his potential current opponent for the sale to left-wing lawmakers regarding the not-yet-approved state budget, so as not to be accused.

“He will do anything to hold on to power and he just proved it,” he said.
