The daughter of a 91-year-old man in Ohio said he was recovering after allegedly giving doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Victor Smith has apparently been in hospital since January, when he fell for the first dose of the vaccine, reports WLWT5.
He was reportedly transferred to Jamestowne Rehabilitation Center, where staff transported him to Butler County Fairgrounds on Feb. 25 so he could receive his second dose of vaccine. But his daughter, Dawn Smith Theodore, told WLWT5 that when he returned, a case of false identity resulted in him receiving a third dose of the vaccine, hours after receiving his second.
“They were transporting him to get his shot, and when he came back I talked to him, he was fine, and then at 15:45 I entered a firefighter from the city and said they had a shot for Victor and the nurse said, “Victor Smith?” and he said ‘Yes’. They gave him the room number and sent him to room 202 where my father was,’ she told the news office.
A statement from the City of Hamilton sent to WLWT5 acknowledged the error.

“An incident occurred where a resident of the city of Hamilton accidentally received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine on the same day,” reads the statement sent on behalf of City of Hamilton and Community First Solutions. “The individual was a patient of Jamestowne Rehabilitation where all vaccinations are completed by parties trained and appropriately certified, in this case the City of Hamilton Fire Department. Jamestowne staff recognized the patient’s signs of distress and immediately “We went to the hospital and the family was contacted immediately. Both Jamestowne and the City of Hamilton Fire Department have begun investigating the incident. Our thoughts are with the patient and his family as he continues his recovery.”

Theodore told the newspaper that her father’s blood pressure had dropped to double the dose and that staff had prepared her for the worst.
“Keep my father in your thoughts and prayers,” she wrote in part to her Facebook fans on March 1. ‘He was supposed to go home from Jamestown Rehab on 26/2, but someone administered 2 vaccines to Moderna within 4 hours. each other and he got short of breath. He accidentally got someone else’s vaccination. The ER let me know on Thursday night that he was dying. He hung there, but it was a rocky road. ‘
