(CNN) – Scientists have identified an “escape mutation” that could reduce the efficiency of vacancies against covid-19.
The mutation, called E484K, was found in a coronavirus variant that was detected earlier in South Africa two months ago. This variant has now been extended to other 12 countries.
Penny Moore, associate professor of the National Institute of Transmissible Suggestions of South Africa, describes the mutation as “alarming”.
“We believe that this mutation can have an impact, and that we do not know the extent of its impact,” he said.
The E484K is known as the “escapist mutation” because it has been shown that it can escape some of the antiquated products produced by the window.
“I am preoccupied,” said Alex Sigal, virologist at the Africa Health Research Institute.
Sigal, Moore and other scientists who are studying the E484K mutation still have to complete their work in the laboratory to see if the vaccine is less effective against this new variant.
Based on what he saw just now, he says that E484K will use the vacancies against the coronavirus. More well, though there is a possibility that the mutation, if only in combination with other mutations, could reduce the efficacy of the vaccine against the variant.
Also, the evidence that E484K may be an indication that the new coronavirus is demonstrating its ability to change our eyes. If this is a mutation in question, then there are other problematic mutations.
“This virus can be transmitted by the first steps in a truck that greatly increases the resistance of the vehicles,” said Andrew Ward, structural virologist at Scripps Research in La Jolla, California.
“It’s the start of a long truck,” said Moore. “It’s what I really like about it. It’s an election attention-grabber ».
The ‘escapist mutation’ is like a naughty child
To understand the potential pain that represents the E484K mutation, imagine a master master in a classroom filled with first-degree alumni.
After months of trying to control the class, the master finally the log. Do you feel calm in your silence.
But after a while, one day the class and another toma su lugar. This new baby, this new little bribon, has not been sent yet. The master’s technique for calming down the children does not work with them.
The master here is the vacuna and the student picaro is the mutation E484K.
When the vacancies are used in EE.UU. if it is tried and tested, it will pass, it will be removed and it will be practically detected that the virus will spread. But since then, parts of the virus have been exchanged for new trousers and, in some cases, their new trousers are uncontrollable.
To try out these new tricks, researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle and other cities have analyzed the plasma of patients recovering from covid-19 to see if they can prevent the E484K from fighting and other mutations.
What we find is that the E484K challenges the ability of some anti-virus to neutralize the virus.
While attention has been focused on E484K, scientists are also aware of other mutations in the variant.
The next step is to try these mutations against the antidotes created by the vacancies; it is the work that scientists are doing now and that will be announced in the next weeks.
The ‘escapist mutation’ is also found in a variant in Brazil
E484K is not only in the variant that was found for the first time in South Africa, but also recently found in a variant in Brazil.
This variant has not been reported in other countries. According to GISAID, an independent data exchange initiative, the first to be detected in South Africa (its scientific number is 501Y.V2), it now has 12 other countries: the United Kingdom, Botswana, France, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Sweden; South Korea, Finland Ireland and the Netherlands.
But including E484K, only in combination with other mutations in the variant, term is a problem, the variant will probably not escape to all the anticurs produced by the vacancies, considering that the vacancies produce many antecedents.
The preoccupation is the mayor for what succeeds when the virus beats one and another time.
Geen is that the coronavirus seems to be rapidly disappearing; of hecho, Sigal, one of the South African investigators, called it “slow”. If the virus is spreading rapidly throughout the world, and if it does not happen to another person, then there is another opportunity to mutate.
“These create more opportunities for the virus to become resistant to the vaccine,” said Paul Bieniasz, virologist at Rockefeller University. “It is probable that, with time, the efficiency of the vaccine will decrease, but we will not be able to recover from a precipitation.”
It is not considered to be the poorest product of a coronavirus, which has always been considered relatively stable, said Sigal.
“This virus really shows us how to adapt and how to escape,” he said. “Simply go back to the first rule of virology: geen subestimes tu virus”.
