An ally of Jair Bolsonaro was elected to preside over the Senate and asserted the possibilities of making a political decision

The legislature Rodrigo Pacheco was elected this month as president of the Brazilian Senate with the support of Jair Bolsonaro, who hopes to win another allied candidate in the Chamber of Deputies to facilitate his campaign in 2022.

Pacheco, from the Democratic Party (DEM), was accused by Simone Tebet, of the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB), to receive 57 suffrage from the 78 senators who participate in the secret and present vote.

After the announcement of the result, Pacheco pronounced a conciliation discourse in which he asserted that “there are no more divisions” and compromised to lead the Camera Alta with “democratic values” to create a “society just and free”, and someter to vote necessary reforms for the development of the country.

In the Chamber of Deputies, of 513 members, Bolsonaro, who has no part in the proposal, has alliances for that elect. Arthur Lira, del partido Progressistas (PP, derecha).

The only one of its members with the possibilities of defiance is Baleia Rossi, of the MDB, who has the support of the current leader of the Chamber, Rodrigo Maia (DEM), and of the mayors’ parties of Izquierda, between them the PT.

During its management, Maia supported the liberal economic agenda by obstructing the advancement of the proposals of the ultra-Orthodox mandate or its allies of the gospel bank on security, ambient protection or rights of the minorities.
