One item on her to-do list: buy her first lottery ticket.
Imagine her surprise when a scratch she paid $ 5 for finally earned her $ 25,000.
It was 4 days after her 18th birthday. While working at a grocery store in downtown Meriden, Stanley decided to try her luck.
She chose a Cash Cow scratch game.
Why?
“Because I like cows and thought it’s cute,” Stanley said.
The high school boy was shocked when she realized she had a winning ticket.
“My family are all very excited and happy for me, and they still can’t believe it!” she said.
Kansas Lottery spokeswoman Jessica Herrera told CNN it was “rare for any player to get a top prize on the very first lottery ticket they ever bought.”
Stanley is going to attend Fort Hays State University in the fall where she plans to study elementary school education.
“I hope it will help me to study without debt,” she told the lottery.
She plans to spend the money on university. But, she told CNN, she also wants to do something fun – like take her friends to a nice dinner.
