Amtrak restores service on long-distance routes

Amtrak said Wednesday it is restoring daily service on 12 long-haul routes, following pandemic-related schedule cuts last year.

The railway also said: “As a result of funding from Covid Lighting, Amtrak will continue to operate and recover and recall the more than 1,200 employees up to FY22 during the year.”

The railroad added that the “funding is pending the signing of President Biden on the final bill.”

The railroad will once again offer daily service on routes such as the California Zephyr and the Empire Builder from May 24, and will continue to add service until June 7, when daily service on the 12 routes will be fully restored.
