American women’s team will hold a training camp in January and host two games against Colombia in Orlando, Florida, to kick off 2021.

CHICAGO (January 6, 2021) – The U.S. women’s team will hold their training camp in January from January 9 to 22 in Orlando, Fla. The camp will end on January 18 (19:00 ET on two matches against Colombia) FS1) and January 22 (19:00 ET on ESPN2). Both games are played at Exploria Stadium, home of the NWSL Orlando Pride and MLS Orlando City SC.

The head coach of the American women’s team, Vlatko Andonovski, has designated a training camp schedule for 27 players who will train in Orlando before naming 18 players for each of the two games.

The capacity for each match will be limited to no more than 4,000 ticket fans. Tickets will be on sale to the public by ussoccer.com on Wednesday, January 13 at 10:00 AM for both matches. Tickets will only be sold in pods of 1, 2, 3 or 4, and a socially diverse seating manifest will be used. USWNT: BACK HOME


The matches against Colombia will be the first domestic matches for American women since the SheBelieves Cup in 2020. This will be the first meeting with Colombia since 2016, a 2-2 draw at the Olympic Games in Manaus, Brazil. Of the six previous matches the USA has played against Colombia, two have played in the World Cup (2011, 2015) and two have taken place during the Olympic Games (2012 and 2016), meaning that the teams compete in four consecutive world championships met. The U.S. won three of those games and drew one.

The USWNT makes a successful return to the field in late October in the form of an 11-day training camp in Commerce City, Colorado, which was the team’s first meeting since the SheBelieves Cup in 2020, and a productive trip to the Netherlands in November which ended with a 2-0 victory against the Dutch in Breda. This match was the first for the USA in 261 days. In the first game against Colombia, the American women will play 313 days between domestic games.

As in Colorado and the Netherlands, the American players and staff will operate in a highly controlled environment at the team hotel. The performance of the camp and the match will fall under the comprehensive category US football returns to play protocols and guidelines and in accordance with the Concacaf Return to Play Protocols. Once the Colombian team and staff arrive in the US, they will work within the same controlled environment with the same test protocols. Everyone entering the area will be tested on COVID-19 before their trip, upon arrival and every two days thereafter. The teams will first start with full team training before the results of all arrival tests are confirmed.

SAFETY PROTOCOLS AND GUIDELINES | COVID-19 WARNING


During both games against Colombia, fans must wear face masks at all times while on stadium grounds, except while eating or drinking. A socially diverse stadium seating manifesto is designed to hold fans in place and within their own parties of four or less, which also includes the following protocols:

  • Adequate space between the playing field and ticket buyers has been arranged.

  • Each occupied row will have a maximum of two parties (each consisting of four or fewer people), enabling each party to gain access to the aisle closest to its seats without having to cross to another party .

  • Each party has at least six feet of space between him and other parties.

  • Tickets are not issued for the first two seats closest to the venue.

  • Only reserved seats, general access is not allowed.

  • Mobile tickets only.

Concession points will be paid cashless. No bags, including transparent bags, are allowed. Ticket holders will have a designated gate to enter the stadium based on their ticket location.

Additional notes:

  • The camp is the return of several World Cup veterans – forwards Megan Rapinoe, Carli Lloyd and Mallory Pugh – who have not been to the previous two U.S. camps and have seen limited or no action for their NWSL clubs in 2020.

  • Nineteen players on the training camp roster were with the USA in the Netherlands for the final action of 2020.

  • Of the eight who were not in the Netherlands, four players – Lloyd, Pugh, Andi Sullivan and Lindsey Horan – are returning from injury or illness.

  • Lloyd is just six times away from the third player in American and world history to play 300 times for their country. Together with world record holder Kristine Lilly (354) and Christie Rampone (311) she will participate in the exclusive club for 300 players.
