An American Airlines flight was forced to divert after two women got into a physical altercation on the plane, according to the police report via Yahoo.

The incident occurred on a plane from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas to Los Angeles, California. When the altercation broke out, the plane diverted to Phoenix, where law enforcement officers “removed and arrested two individuals for verbally and physically assaulting other customers and flight crew members.”

Witnesses told Phoenix police that 30-year-old Kelly Pichardo and Leeza Rodriguez, 29, were involved in the altercation. Pichardo and Rodriguez allegedly used a racial stir when a male passenger asked them not to use the language. This forced Pichardo to spit on the passenger.

“Kelly Pichardo became upset and allegedly spat at the male passenger who asked her to stop using the language,” the police statement read. “The male passenger started when the two women picked up, and that was when Leeza Rodriguez hit the man’s hand to stop him from recording the incident.”

Both women have been charged with disorderly conduct and Pichardo is facing charges of crime. They have meanwhile been placed on American Airlines’ internal garbage list as the investigation continues.

“We continue to investigate this incident and work directly with affected customers to ensure their well-being,” the airline said in a statement. “We thank our crew members for their professionalism in managing a difficult situation.”
