American Airlines flies passengers on Boeing 737 Max for the first time since March 2019

This week, the Boeing 737 Max returns to commercial airways with a three-hour American Airlines flight between Miami and New York City. Tuesday’s flight was the first time a Boeing 737 Max has carried commercial passengers since the plane was grounded in 2019 after two fatal accidents.

According to a report by Business Insider, an American Airlines Boeing 737 Max was transporting commercial passengers for the first time in many months this week. The flight, which took off in Miami and landed successfully in New York City, carried members of the media, American employees and other passengers. Flight captain Sean Roskey even took her mother with her for the flight.

Business Insider reporter Chris Sloan documented his experience with returning the fleet to the airways. This was not Sloan’s first experience on a Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Sloan previously flew the route between Miami and New York.

‘For years, I flew twice a month with the Boeing 737 Max on one of American Airlines’ most lucrative and most traveled Milky Way: between Miami and New York. Flying does not become much more routine than this route, and it has become for my pedestrians like for many others, ”Sloan explained.

Passengers on board the flight were confident that problems with the aircraft’s infamous signaling system had been rectified during the reconfirmation process. “It has now been tested and viewed more than any other aircraft in history, so I feel completely safe,” one passenger told Sloan.

American Airlines president Robert Isom said the airline would make all 24 of its 737 Max planes work again by January. The airline also announced that they had ordered an additional 10,737 Max aircraft from Boeing.

However, many remain skeptical about the safety of the aircraft. Breitbart News reported in December that an investigation report published by Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) claimed that Boeing had “improperly influenced” FAA test pilots during the 737 Max Navy’s reaffirmation process.

“It simply came to our notice then. “The report contains a number of important examples of decay in aviation safety oversight and failed leadership in the FAA,” Wicker said. “It is clear that the agency needs consistent oversight to ensure that their work to protect the flying public is carried out fully and correctly.”
