Blackfishing can include ‘white women who pretend and model black aesthetics through their Instagram accounts’ by darkening their skin, exaggerating their lips, wearing hairstyles created by black people, adopting certain clothing styles or as racial- ambiguous, to suggest sociologist. Jessie Daniels, author of Cyberraism, told Yahoo Life in July.
But in response to the setback, Amelia says: “There is no self-tanner involved. Or the intention to look darker than my own natural skin color.”
The comment feature has since been disabled on her post, but the photo – which has now received more than 31,600 likes – remains.
