AMD’s Ryzen PRO 5000 mobile processors: key take-away

Advanced micro-devices AMD recently introduced the AMD Ryzen PRO 5000 series mobile processors based on the Zen 3 core architecture. The new line of Ryzen Pro mobile processors aims to improve the efficiency of professional laptops amid the increase in hybrid work.

From the second quarter of 2021, AMD expects a wide availability of AMD-powered business notebooks HP Ing HPQ and Lenovo and expect the number of notebooks to triple by 2021.

AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U features 8 cores and 16 threads with 20 MB cache and offers thermal design power or TDP of 15W. According to AMD, AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U can deliver up to 57% more multi-wire performance and 23% improved performance for home and office productivity than its competitors.

AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U has 6 cores and 12 threads with 19 MB cache, while AMD Ryzen 3 PRO 5450U has 4 cores and 8 threads with 10 MB cache.

AMD Ryzen PRO 5000 Series mobile processors boast AMD PRO technologies including AMD PRO Security, AMD PRO manageability and AMD PRO business.

AMD Ryzen PRO processors are also embedded in AMD Memory Guard, which helps protect data and credentials. Furthermore, AMD Shadow Stack provides hardware protection against malware threats.

The evolving workspace is good for AMD

Rapid distribution of high-end cloud computing, increasing demand for thinner laptops and faster processing are expected to increase demand for the new Ryzen PRO 5000 range of processors.

Furthermore, working remotely, staying home and learning online has fueled the demand for computers, laptops and notebooks. The rise in video games around the world amid the pandemic is also contributing to the growing demand for notebooks.

The continued momentum seen in computer shipments, due to work from home, offers good interests for the adoption of AMD’s processors designed to serve operational purposes.

These trends are unlikely to disappear in the short term, as the implementation of the global vaccination is a long one.

The global laptop market is forecast to have a 0.5% CAGR worldwide between 2021 and 2026, according to an expert market research report. It reached nearly $ 103 billion in value in 2020, the report added.

These robust features are expected to stimulate the uptake of AMD’s new processors and in turn boost the leading company in the coming days.
Increasing competition in the semiconductor space of people like NVIDIA NVDA en Intel INTC remains a concern.

Recently, Intel launched its 11th generation Intel Core S series of desktop processors (called Rocket Lake-S) worldwide to increase the speed and performance of video games.
