In a nutshell: Two weeks ago, AMD admitted that the complaints surrounding sporadic USB disconnections on X570 and B550 motherboards were acknowledged. There have been engineers working on the problem ever since, but without success: for now, AMD’s official guidance is to apply the solutions proposed on Reddit.
AMD has been collecting user reports for the past two weeks to clear up the ambiguity. From the public reports on Reddit, it is only possible for us to paint a picture of the problem in the broadest sense: USB devices can suddenly disconnect or suffer as a result of 500-series or 5000-series motherboards Ryzen processors. interference. But the problems seem to be most prevalent in systems with RTX 3000 series GPUs and high-bandwidth devices, according to some Redditors collaboration efforts.
In other words, the problem may be related to the amount of data flowing between components. Some solutions suggested on Reddit try to reduce the amount of data flowing, for example by switching the system to PCIe 3.0 or by disabling usable ports / devices. Another solution to eliminate the C-states (which is the CPU version of the CPU) is to try to improve the system’s ability to handle the data.
One Redditor, fed up with an unusable system, asked AMD to repay their CPU. In their email refusing the refund, AMD recommends updating the motherboard software, and if the problem persists, try disabling C-states and switching the system to PCIe 3.0.
AMD has since made the advice official. In their words:
- Verify that your motherboard has been updated to the latest BIOS version and configured using optimized / factory settings. Check your motherboard manufacturer’s website for BIOS update and download instructions.

In their email, AMD reiterates that their “engineering team is actively investigating this issue with high priority.” While AMD’s respect for the community does not say good things about their engineering team, they are at least humble enough to recommend advice that works.
