AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB graphics card game, Vulcan and OpenCL benchmark performance leaks out

The first AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT performance measures include the Gaming, Vulcan and OpenCL capabilities of the Navi 22 GPU. The AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is designed to offer excellent 1440p performance and is positioned to tackle both the RTX 3060 Ti and the RTX 3070, based on the US price of $ 479.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB graphics card performance benchmarks in AAA games, Vulcan and OpenCL leak out

In its official charts, AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 6700 XT which offers better performance than the RTX 3070 at 1440p in several AAA titles. Now we have published a set of new benchmarks by Harukaze It is based on performance results from various games, including Doom Eternal and Shadow of The Tomb Raider. The Radeon RX 6700 XT is reportedly offering up to 5% better GPU performance in Doom Eternal than the RTX 3060 Ti and 3% higher FPS in SOTR. Overall, the Radeon RX 6700 XT is up to 8% faster than the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and 1% faster than the GeForce RTX 3070. The resolution and game settings used are not mentioned, so take these benchmarks with a grain of salt.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 & RX 6600 XT also get 12 GB GDDR6 models as seen in the EEC presentation, RX 6700 XT Gaming OC is listed for more than 700 euros

Go to the Volcano and OpenCL performance numbers provided by TUM_APISAK, we see that the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT scores 55278 points in the Vulcan benchmark and 102831 points in the OpenCL benchmark in Geekbench 5. If we compare these scores with NVIDIA GPUs, the Radeon RX 6700 XT is slower than the RTX 2080 SUPER in OpenCL and also slower than even the Radeon RX 5700 XT in the OpenCL benchmark. However, this does not make sense. AMD RX 6000 series graphics cards perform worse than their Vega and Navi predecessors in both standards.

Take for example the AMD Radeon RX 6800, which is only equal to the GeForce RTX 2080 in the Vulcan benchmark, while the graphics card actually competes with the GeForce RTX 3080 in various games. The same is the case in the OpenCL benchmark where the RX 6800 is only slightly faster than the RTX 3060 Ti.

Overall, the Radeon RX 6800 is about 24% faster than the RX 6700 XT in OpenCL, but a massive 60% faster in the Vulcan benchmark. It seems that the performance of OpenCL and Vulkan GPU on the existing RDNA 2 graphics architecture still needs time to mature, as it is a brand new architecture that has been around for several months.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB graphics card specifications

In terms of specifications, the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT contains the Navi 22 XT GPU which contains 40 units of computing equivalent to 2560 power processors. The core operates at a clock speed of 2321 MHz base, 2424 MHz play and 2581 MHz boost. The graphics chip also contains 40 Ray accelerators for raytracing capabilities on the RDNA 2-based GPUs. The card features an 11-phase PCB design powered by an 8 + 6 connector configuration. In terms of TDP, the card is 230W, which is close to what the GeForce RTX 3070 offers.
