A Reddit poster claiming to be aware of Tesla Inc’s (NASDAQ: TSLA)’s investment in Bitcoin (BTC) confirmed that the information it released on January 2 was not true, the New York Post reported Tuesday.
What happened: After Tesla made its Bitcoin investment announcement on Monday, the attention of user TSLAInsider was focused on the Reddit message five weeks earlier.
“I’m a software developer working at R & D in Tesla, California. Our company bought 24,701 BTC in the last 72 hours at an average price of $ 33,142,” the user with the handle TSLAinsider said last month on Reddit posted, “reads the report. as reported by Reuters.
The Post claims that the Reddit user behind the TSLAInsider handle is a 24-year-old German political science student named Hendrik.
“If you want to know the truth: I am a young German guy and was on Acid while doing this job last month,” Hendrik said in an interview with the Post.
‘I had this afflatus that Elon was going to buy Bitcoin, so I created this troll post. And now all the newspapers all over the world are writing about it, it’s quite funny and scary to be honest. ”
The user has posted a link to the story of the Post and it seems to confirm.
