Ring’s police cooperation did not slow down in 2020, despite controversy – if anything, it has increased. The Financial Times reports that the Amazon home security brand now has 2014 police and firefighting partnerships in the U.S., of which 1,189 were added in 2020. Montana and Wyoming are the only two states where Ring does not have some kind of alliance.
These departments also make use of the teamwork. Ring said departments requested videos for more than 22,335 incidents in 2020. There were no comparable data from 2019, but some first responders were busier than others. Milwaukee police, for example, requested videos for 431 incidents in the second half of 2020 alone due to a high level of homicides.
