Originally planned for release in May 2020, the MMO from Amazon Game Studios New world slipped until August 2020 and thereafter to the spring of 2021. According to the latest developer update, the game will now launch on August 31, 2021, with a closed beta from July 20.

The latest delay for the relatively eagerly expected Amazon’s game somewhat upset game studioaccording to the update, it’s giving developers more time to implement and polish new endgame features, while making sure all the moving parts work correctly. New world game director Scot Lane offered a similar explanation for the delay in a video posted on YouTube.

I’ve not played in any of them yet New world‘s alpha events, but as an MMO fan I look forward to exploring this strange fictional view of American colonization. We hope this final delay is actually final.
