Amazon’s motorized Echo Show 10 will finally be available on February 25

Amazon’s new motorized Echo Show 10 – which was announced last fall at its annual hardware event – finally has a February 25 release date, and pre-orders start today for $ 249.99. The smart screen was originally announced for a late 2020 release date.

Unlike the other Echo Show smart screens from Amazon, the Echo Show 10 has a motorized base that allows the screen to rotate to look at you when you handle it. It also uses its rotational capability (along with digital zoom and panning) to keep users in the frame on video calls, even when moving around. Notably, Amazon supports Zoom in addition to its own Alexa group features, making it a useful tool for video conferencing.

Similarly, the screen may rotate when playing video from services like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, so you can always watch your program. The screen on the new device can also be manually tilted up and down, although the 10-inch HD panel is still largely the same.

However, the Echo Show 10 does not use its camera setup for face recognition. It can see when someone is talking and they are facing, but it cannot determine specific people.
