A significant inventory of PS5 consoles was available on Amazon US earlier today.
This surprised buyers, without Amazon announcing in advance.
It was the first major drop in U.S. equities since its November 12 launch date.
It is estimated that the console was snatched up by thousands of buyers. Most orders apparently have to be delivered by 30 December 2020 and 5 January 2021.
Unfortunately, the majority of buyers showed up late. Although the website still said that the PS5 was in stock, they received an error message when they tried to add it to the cart.
This is shown if the product is not already in stock, but the front of the site has not been updated.
How long did the US stock of Amazon last again?
The PS5 disc release was in stock just after 11:00 EST and only lasted 9 minutes before they were all gone. It was back in stock before 4pm EST and just hung around for a minute.
Meanwhile, the PS5 Digital Edition was in stock just before 12:00 EST and lasted only 2 minutes.
Both versions of the PS5 were only available for a maximum of 12 minutes. This is no surprise how fast the PS5 sold out at other retailers.
When will the PS5 be available on Amazon US again?
There is no official announcement from Amazon regarding PS5 shares.
However, a reliable insider suggested that more shares will be available during January 2021. This is accompanied by a large increase in supply from Sony early in the year.
