Amazon opens pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Seattle headquarters

(Reuters) – Amazon Inc said on Thursday that it will open a pop-up clinic at its Seattle headquarters on January 24 with the aim of targeting eligible members of the public against COVID-19 on the first day of 2000. ent.

Jay Carney, senior vice president of global corporate affairs, who announced the plan at a news conference with Washington governor Jay Inslee, said a manager of the company would work with the Washington Vaccine Command Center.

The clinic is offered in partnership with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health.

The move came a day after Reuters reported that Amazon had offered to help with the United States’ efforts regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, citing a letter addressed to President Joe Biden.

The state currently allows people 65 and older and people 50 and older in a multi-generation household to be vaccinated. It still allowed doses for vaccinating warehouse workers, such as Amazon.

The company employs more than 800,000 people in the country and more than 19,000 U.S. employees at Amazon contracted the virus as of September, emphasizing the importance of the vaccine in keeping its staff safe and warehouses up and running.
