Amazon may bump the first day of the first day: Report

Reportedly, e-commerce giant Amazon is considering increasing its annual Prime Day sale this year.

According to a report by Recode, which cited several internal and external sources, Amazon Prime Day wants to move to mid to late June.

The sale usually took place in mid-July.

But Amazon is also considering holding a second sale in the fall, the publication reports.

An Amazon spokesman told FOX Business that he had not yet made any announcements about the date.

Last year, e-commerce giant postponed Prime Day until October amid the coronavirus pandemic and sales expanded to two days.

While it was not immediately clear why Amazon would hold the event in June, a source from Recode speculated that it might want to boost sales in the second quarter.

Amazon usually generates a significant amount of revenue during the popular event.

Sales on Prime Day 2019 reached nearly $ 7.1 billion.

Last year, the company did not disclose its total takeover of the event, but noted itparty sellers raised more than $ 3.5 billion, an increase of nearly 60% year-on-year.

The event also helps the company recruit more Prime members. It costs about $ 119 per year plus tax to sign up. Amazon has north of 150 million Prime members.
