Amazon has had a striking struggle when it comes to making games, with a new Bloomberg report outlining its behind-the-scenes issues.
Amazon is undoubtedly one of the largest companies in the world, and apparently a hold on everything from film and TV production, online retail and more. However, the one area that the mega-company seems to be having trouble penetrating is the gaming industry, with a new report outlining some details behind the scenes that have plagued its gaming division, Amazon Game Studios.
A new report from Bloomberg sheds a little more light behind Amazon Game Studios, specifically regarding the numerous problematic issues that the studio has had a hard time getting off the ground over the years. As reported by Jason Schreier and Priya Anand, a number of factors over the past few years have contributed to internal issues with his gaming projects, with more than 30 current and former employees sharing their experiences while working at Amazon Game Studios.
Why did Amazon fail to break into video games? Interviews with more than 30 current and former employees point to one root problem: the man in charge has never played before. He’s going to hire veteran staff … and then ignore them.

According to BloombergThe report, among which the most notable issues the company’s gaming division experienced, was manager Mike Frazzini, a veteran at Amazon but one who had no experience developing games. The lack of experience, in turn, tended to frustrate developers when Frazzini would ignore or contradict their advice and decisions, leading many people to leave the studio.
The report also explained that Amazon’s development projects often suffered in focus and scale, and many teams tried to create projects that would compete with established franchises and IP contests. Ear Watch, League of Legends, en Fortnite. In turn, developers of Amazon Game Studios also struggled with the development tools of the company called Lumberyard, which was often slow and difficult to work around.
To date, Amazon has missed more than hits when it comes to game development projects. Last year, the studio had its Ear Watch-style hero shooter Furnace, only to quickly pull the title five months later after its struggling launch. The studio is also working on the MMO name New worldAlthough the project was delayed by almost a year until the spring of 2021 with the first launch in 2020.
