The present-day Dealmaster is upside down by a good discount on Sony’s WH-1000XM4, as the high-end wireless headphones at various retailers are currently up to $ 278. That’s over $ 70 off Sony’s MSRP, about $ 50 off the typical street price online, and it’s the biggest discount we’ve ever seen, which we also saw on Black Friday.
At the moment, the WH-1000XM4 is our best choice among noise canceling headphones. There are certainly better-sounding headphones for the price, but the bass-forward sound of the XM4 is still pleasing to those who like an increased low-end, and it’s possible to customize the sound profile through Sony’s companion app . Either way, the XM4s are very comfortable to carry for hours on end, have an excellent battery life of about 30 hours and have several useful features, such as USB-C charging, a “talk-to-talk” feature which automatically mutes music when talking to someone else, and a great “ambient sound” mode that mixes external noise with your music while you’re out and about. More than anything else, the quality of their sound suppression is excellent, and they attenuate lower-frequency noise and, to a lesser, but still impressive extent, higher tones.
Some like Bose’s Noise Canceling Headphones 700 have better call quality, a more neutral sound, and the ability to adjust noise suppressing power, but overall we think Sony’s pair is the best price, especially at this price. Elsewhere, our discount mix also includes discounts on Apple’s M1 Mac Mini and Magic Keyboard, a budget pair of Anker’s noise-canceling headphones we like, LG’s latest OLED TVs and more.
