Alma Wahlberg, the mother of actors Mark and Donnie Wahlberg and star of the reality show Wahlburgers, has died at the age of 78.
Mark went to Instagram on Sunday to share the news of his mother’s death with his followers and to pay tribute to her.
“My angel. Rest in peace,” he wrote with a photo of his deceased mother.
Donnie also went to Instagram to honor his late mother by sharing a video with footage of her from their reality show, along with a long caption honoring the family matric.

“I am so blessed to have been brought into this world by such an amazing woman, raised by, taught and put on my life path,” he wrote in the post. “My mother Alma’s joy for life, love and people – combined with a pride in her humble beginnings and refusal to forget where she came from – has undoubtedly shaped me into the man I am.”
He then spoke directly to Alma’s character, emphasizing the difficulty she had in raising him and his many brothers.
“She was, without a doubt, the most loving person I have ever known. I have never heard her say or do anything disrespectful to anyone. She was, like anyone who ever met her, true blue,” Donnie wrote . “Like so many moms who struggled, overcame the opportunity, made something out of nothing and eliminated the impossible for their children, she never complained. She did what had to be done, mostly with a smile. She made the best of the times in the worst of times. ‘

He concluded: “It’s time to rest, mother. I love you, miss you, thank you and will celebrate you, today and forever. Forever – your baby Donnie.”

People note that Donnie previously shared a post on social media in which he informs the public that Alma’s health is deteriorating and that she has dementia.
