Wahlberg, the mother of nine children, appears in dozens of episodes of A & E’s reality show describing the rise of the family restaurant chain.
Alma Wahlberg, the matriarch of the Wahlberg family and a regular character in the reality show Wahlburgers, died. She was 78.
Mark and Donnie Wahlberg posted the news on their Instagram pages on Sunday. “My angel. Rest in peace,” Mark wrote. Donnie wrote, “I am so blessed to have been brought into this world by such a wonderful woman, educated by myself, and placed on my life’s journey.” He added: “My mother Alma’s joy for life, love and people – combined with a pride in her humble beginnings and refusal to forget where she came from – has undoubtedly shaped me into the man I am.” No cause of death was given.
Actor Jenny McCarthy, who is married to Donnie, called Wahlberg “the worlds [sic] biggest mother-in-law “in a Twitter message.” You are so loved among so many and will be greatly missed. Love you, Alma, ‘she added.
After growing up in the Dorchester area of Boston, Wahlberg married Donald E. Wahlberg in 1965 (they later divorced; Donald died in 2008). She raised nine children in the Boston area – Mark, Donnie, Arthur, Paul, Jim, Robert, Michelle, Debbie and Tracey – and worked as a bank clerk and assistant nurse. (Debbie passed away in 2003.)
In a family interview during dinner with Anderson Cooper in 2011, Wahlberg told the CNN host that he raised nine children: “Listen, I did not know what I was doing. I really do not think I know what I am doing. I was just trying to keep up with them. “After she got emotional, she added,” I love my kids. I love my children. “
Between 2014 and 19, Wahlberg appeared in dozens of episodes of A & E’s Wahlburgers, a reality show about the rise of the family-run restaurant chain, run primarily by Paul Wahlberg. “The matriarch of Wahlberg, Alma, who is always ready with strong opinions, is also very well chosen and does not mind stirring up her children’s competition over who the favorite boy is,” THR critic wrote in the magazine’s review of the series in 2014. In 2010, Paul opened an Italian restaurant in Hingham, Massachusetts called Alma Nove, in a tribute to his mother.
In his post about his mother’s death on Instagram, Donnie writes: ‘I have often said, if you like something about me, I got it from Alma. I say this because it is true. She was, without a doubt, the most loving person I have ever known. ‘
In her appearance on Cooper’s show in 2011, Wahlberg said, “My advice to my own children was … to be involved in everything they do.”
