Allen Robinson gets the franchise label

USA TODAY Sports

Wide receiver Allen Robinson has been frustrated in the past by the Bears’ lack of long-term commitment, and the lack of dedication has left the use of the franchise label on the table for this team out of season.

According to several reports, the Bears chose to use the label before the Tuesday afternoon deadline. Because he had a $ 15 levy last season, Robinson would earn $ 18 million if he played out the 2021 season under the terms of the label.

There are two ways the Bears and Robinson can avoid this. One is by reaching an agreement in advance on the long-term deal before the July 15 deadline, and the other is by Robinson signing the label to pave the way for a trade to a team that is likely to give him the kind of contract give what he wants.

It is said that the latter option is on the table, so there may be more twists and turns before Robinson knows where he will play in 2021.
