Windows 10X, a special version of Windows 10, was originally designed for foldable computers such as the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold. However, due to the increasing demand for COVID-19 for traditional laptops and computers, Windows has shifted its focus to bringing Windows 10X to single-screen computers. Thanks to a new leak we can first look at what it will look like.
Windows Central’s Zac Bowden shared a screenshot on Wednesday of what is claimed to be Windows 10X for single-screen computers. It looks like the picture’s Start menu of the software and a taskbar in the middle with large icons that look very touch friendly. The taskbar also contains shortcuts for Microsoft Edge, Files, Outlook, and spaces.

Meanwhile, the Start Menu contains all sorts of shortcuts, from useful productivity tools to services like Microsoft Teams, Skype and Spotify. The latter is not a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) application, so it may be a Progressive Web App (PWA) pinned down. Apparently the Start Menu does not support directories, but according to the screenshot it will show programs and websites.

In addition to the image shared by Bowden, Alumia Italia shared what is allegedly the startup animation of Windows 10X. The animation is apparently from Windows 10X | Bou 20279.1002. More leaks are promised, so we may soon have a better idea of what Windows 10X will look like on single-screen computers.
The advent of Windows 10X could shake up business and education circles, providing access to Microsoft’s most well-known services, while including things like immediate launch and access to UWP programs and PWAs. The first devices equipped with Windows 10X will reportedly arrive in the spring of 2021, so it may not take much longer before we get the software fully operational.
For now, we are keeping an eye on leaks that will be the coming days and weeks.
