Alexi Laiho, frontman of the Finnish metal group Children of Bodom, dies suddenly at 41

“It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexi Laiho,” Napalm Records, on behalf of Bodom After Midnight, announced.

“We are absolutely devastated and saddened by the sudden loss of our dear friend and band member,” the statement, signed by band members Daniel, Mitja and Waltteri, added.
A statement on Laiho’s official Facebook page said the musician died at his home in Helsinki last week, adding that he had been suffering from long-term health issues during his last years.

Laiho was the guitarist and singer of the metal group Children of Bodom, which was formed in 1993 under the name IneartheD, until the group played their final performance in 2019.

According to their website, the group has sold more than 250,000 records in their native Finland, and according to their website is one of the country’s best-selling artists.

According to the management of Bodom After Midnight, the guitarist received several other international awards for his music and was awarded the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award.
