Alexa can share songs on your friends’ Echo devices

Have you ever heard a catchy song on your smart speaker and immediately shared it? You can act on the impulse if you have an echo. Amazon uses a music sharing feature that lets you share songs with Alexa contacts through Echo devices or the Alexa app. Ask the voice assistant to share this song with a contact, and they can not only choose to listen, but also send a response.

Fortunately, you do not have to use Amazon Music or even the same streaming service as your receiver. Alexa will try to find a track about any services available to you. If there is no match, you will still get a station based on the name of the artist and the title of the song.

You can try the feature by enabling Alexa Communications. If you are not sure about the contacts that a song can receive, you can start a new message to see who is available.

Amazon has characterized it as ‘just the beginning’ of the sub-feature, indicating possible upgrades in the future. For now, though, the feature can be useful if you do not want to go to text messages or social networks, just to spread the word about a song you can not miss – at least if your friends are just as invested in the Alexa ecosystem as you are.
