“During his last day on the set, Alex praised the virtues of everyone opening their hands and hearts to those who are suffering,” said Mike Richards, executive producer of the games show. “Donating his wardrobe to those who are rebuilding their lives is the perfect way to meet that last request.”
Trebek’s son, Matthew, was a supporter of The Doe Fund and came up with the idea to donate the pieces to the organization, according to the news release.
In total, the family donated four suits, 58 dress shirts, 300 ties, 25 polo shirts, 14 jerseys, nine sports jackets, nine pairs of dress shoes, 15 belts, two parks and three pairs of dresses. According to the news release, participants in the Doe Fund will use the items in their enrollment program for job interviews.
“We are so grateful for Jeopardy! And the Trebek family’s commitment to uplift the defenseless among us,” said Harriet McDonald, president of The Doe Fund. “The men in our career training programs always need professional clothing so that they can shine in their job interviews and work with confidence once they are hired. This donation alleviates the hurdle of not having the necessary clothing.”
Trebek died in November at the age of 80. He has over 8,200 episodes of “Jeopardy!” Offered. more than 38 seasons, according to a statement from Sony Pictures, most by a presenter of any video game show.
Trebek left behind his three children and his wife Jean, whom he married in 1990.
